Another prompt started in class! This time we were given an object and an idea, mine was bottle and conflict. This is what I came up with!

---------------

“Have you finished your drink?” Emma looks up from the book she was reading and nods “Can I take it then? I’m going to the bin.”

Emma nods once again and observes Anna as she walks to the bin, putting all the rubbish in the normal bin.

“Anna!” Emma calls angrily “Are you serious?” Anna walks towards her friend confused

“What? What did I do?”

“My bottle was plastic” Anna is still confused “As in recyclable” Emma’s tone is condescending, but Anna doesn’t take it personal. She’s used to it.

“I’m sorry. I had too much rubbish on my hands, it just fell in.” Emma rolls her eyes and goes back to reading her book.

Anna sits at the table, not reading her book, or searching something on her laptop like usual. She’s just sitting there, staring at the empty white cafeteria walls. Her face feels cold, she notices a tear on the table. Anna cleans the tear from her face. Emma looks up as she hears her friend sniff.

“What’s up?” she should be worried; her friend is crying. But she doesn’t look worried, or sad or anything close to empathetic. She looks…disgusted.

“Why are you like this?” Anna asks “I’ve been trying to ignore it my whole life. The bossing me around, the patronising tone.”

“Anna what-”

“I can’t take it anymore, Emma! You’re not a good friend.”
